Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Backup Infrastructure Readiness Checker.

What is Backup Infrastructure Readiness Checker?

Backup Infrastructure Readiness Checker is a browser-based infrastructure readiness tool that helps you validate a server before a backup platform installation or upgrade. It generates a local diagnostic script, you run it, then upload the result for a readiness score and recommendations.

Is this an official Veeam tool?

No. This is an unofficial diagnostic/readiness tool developed by Spenvest Lab. It does not replace official vendor documentation or support guidance.

Does this tool store customer data?

No. The tool is frontend-only with no backend or database. The diagnostic script writes a JSON file locally, and the analysis happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded automatically or stored on a server.

Do I need to install an agent?

No agent is required. You run a single PowerShell script on the target server; there is nothing to install or leave behind.

Why does the script run locally?

Readiness checks need real system, SQL, port, and service information from the actual server. Running locally keeps credentials on your machine, avoids collecting passwords, and means no data leaves your environment unless you choose to share the result.

Which products are supported?

The current MVP supports Veeam ONE pre-upgrade readiness. More validators are planned (see the Roadmap).

Can I use this before a Veeam ONE upgrade?

Yes. Veeam ONE upgrade readiness is exactly what the MVP covers: it checks system requirements, SQL connectivity, ports, services, and common upgrade blockers, then highlights anything that needs attention first.

Will VBR and VB365 checks be added later?

Yes, they are on the roadmap — including VBR pre-upgrade, VB365 pre-install and object storage validation, repository validation, Microsoft 365 permission validation, and VMware/vCenter connectivity validation.
